Events Are Back In Full Swing

Welcome to this issue of Austin Business Review, a weekly roundup of great local events and insights for Austin business owners (plus some other cool stuff for your life outside of work).

My name’s Ethan and I’m the one writing this (holler at me here!)

I’m officially declaring Austin’s events calendar back in full-swing.

There are a ton. I always try to keep this email focused on only the things that really caught my attention this week. Things that I think you can get real value from. Even so, the event list was longer than normal.

Bunch of cool stuff going on, and the year is just getting started.

PS. One thing I always want to do is introduce you to cool local business leaders. So this week, meet Jason Kim. He’s CEO at Firefly Aerospace, which has 700+ employees and is based just north of town in Cedar Park.

They recently launched their Blue Ghost Lunar Lander – the first of three missions to the moon between now and 2028 – which is currently orbiting Earth, and sent back the photo below.

It’ll spend about three more weeks orbiting while the Firefly team checks and calibrates all the instruments, and then it’ll land at Mare Crisium, a lunar “sea” just visible to the naked eye from Earth at about the 2 o’clock position on the face of the moon.

You can follow the full mission on Instagram, and give Jason a shout on LinkedIn to say congrats.

Also, catch Jason’s interview on the AustinPreneur podcast here, or check out this documentary on the engineering at Firefly.

That’s all for this week!

Typically, I include some articles and other stuff, but I haven’t made my way through the ones on my desk yet. Though I am enjoying this interview with SKU founder Michelle Breyer, and have this deep dive from 8VC on disrupting healthcare bookmarked.

More on those next week.

Email me here if you want to share any feedback, or let me know about an event you’re hosting.

Until next week,
